Riverside County, (See the Map) with a population of 1,545,387 is located in the southeastern part of California, stretching from Orange County to the Colorado River, which is the border with Arizona. This county is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area in an area of Southern California known as the Inland Empire.
Geographically, the county is desert. Most of Joshua Tree National Park is located in the county. Riverside County lies inland of Los Angeles, and large numbers of Los Angeles workers have moved to the county in recent years to take advantage of relatively affordable housing costs. Neighboring San Bernardino County, it is one of the fastest growing parts of Greater Los Angeles.
Such famous golf resorts as Indian Wells, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, Palm Springs and Palm Desert are located in Riverside County. |

Riverside has a population of 305,255 It is the largest city in the Inland Empire region, the 62nd-largest city in the United States, and by one measure part of the 14th-largest metropolitan area in the nation.
The City of Corona is located approximately 45 miles southeast of Los Angeles in western Riverside County. The City limits encompass 38 square miles and the population is approximately 145,195. The Inland Empire, also known as "The IE," is an area approximately 60 miles from north to south, and 50 miles wide. It spans Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. The area is surrounded by mountain ranges and hills on all sides, with only a few natural passes to Los Angeles and Orange County. The natural beauty of the mountain rim on 320 degrees of the horizon is punctuated by a vertical elevation of over 10,000 feet in at least four places.
The Inland Empire is perhaps the only place in the United States where you are 45 minutes from ski slopes and 45 minutes from the beach; during some times of the year, the weather allows both skiing and ocean swimming on the same day! The Inland Empire offers many outdoor sports such as snowboarding, motorcycling, biking, racing, and four-wheeling. |
 |
|
The elevation range makes the topography very interesting and creates climatic ranges from near desert to alpine, with oak trees and conifer forests just a few minutes drive up on the famous Rim of the World highway.
